The hot days of August always bring the welcomed ripe fruits of the garden. Days are long and nights short and very warm. In olden times, the task of tending the crops and harvesting the bounty was everyone’s daily occupation. August 1st is the day half way between the Summer Solstice and the Fall Equinox. Called by the ancients Lammas or Lughnasad, It is traditionally the day the first harvest of grain is ground into flour for a loaf of bread. The name literally means “loaf day”.

As we move from high Summer to the season of harvest, we may ask of our Soul life: “What is it that I am harvesting”? What is my special sustenance? Are there fields left unattended? Is my soul landscape parched and in need of light and water? Is there something my Soul is needing to bring forth?

Join us at the Front Porch at Scarritt Bennett Center July 31 from 10 a.m. to 4:30p.m. to use the ancient tool of the Labyrinth to explore these and other questions.

Paula Peace and Sarah Cherry are Veriditas-trained Labyrinth Facilitators. They will share information and lead discussion on the history and construction of the Labyrinth and its Sacred Geometry. We will explore ways to use the Labyrinth in your daily meditative work to help you connect to Source and thus become more truly human.

Nashville IONS Community Gathering - Sun June 6, 2010

Nashville IONS Community gathering will be on the First SUNDAY June 6, 2010 at
First Church Unity on Franklin Rd

The Labyrinth as Spiritual Path

with guest facilitators

Sarah Cherry and
Paula Peace

Paula Peace

The Labyrinth is a circular spiraling path which leads to a center and back again. It is an ancient spiritual tool used to access levels of human consciousness beyond the rational mind.

Walking the Labyrinth is a metaphor for one’s own spiritual strivings, one’s own life path. The quiet meditative process facilitates calming the mind and making us open to receiving inspiration.

So you might ask “How does such an ancient structure find relevance in the 21st century?” It is with this question that you are invited to attend Nashville IONS meeting on June 6 and answer for yourself how the Labyrinth may be a relevant to you and your spiritual path.

There will be a short program consisting of the sacred geometry and mythology behind the Labyrinth through history. We will also touch on building a labyrinth. There will be time to walk the Labyrinth and Paula and Sarah will be available to process the walk afterwards for those who are interested. Please join us for a journey though the Labyrinth as Sacred Path.

Our June 6th gathering will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.at
First Church Unity – 5125 Franklin Pike - Nashville, TN 37220
